Caring for your New Investment
Hardwood floors are often preferred for their natural durability and weathering that adds character to the overall aesthetic of wood grain and color gradients. Simple sweeping and wiping are key to their maintenance success. Avoid too much vacuuming, unless on a ‘bare floor’ setting, to reduce scratching. Mop using a microfiber cloth without water, choosing a cleaning product with a neutral PH that is nontoxic and biodegradable to reduce the amount of moisture going into your wooden floors. A quarterly polishing is recommended to retain shine. Over time, hardwood floors do require refinishing every seven to ten years to protect the wood beneath the surface.
