We get it– trying to decide on selections for an upcoming renovation or remodeling project can be more than daunting. Sometimes, it feels like it would be easier to have a crystal ball to show you what colors, finishes, or materials will be the new hot commodity in the coming months.
With over 40 years of experience under our belt, it’s safe to say that our team at Michael’s has seen just about every trend that has come and gone; some good, others not so good.
Here are some of the design trends we predict will continue to be a hit in the coming months.
When it comes to flooring, we are predicting that more clients will continue to seek out luxury vinyl flooring (also known as LVP) over traditional hardwood flooring and tile. Vinyl floors are easier to maintain and even have waterproofing that makes cleaning a breeze. With plenty of colors and patterns to choose from and unheard of durability, people are turning to LVP flooring as a way to save money while still achieving an elevated look in their home.
When it comes to paint colors, we all know that neutrals have been all the rage recently. That said, we are predicting that in 2023 we will begin to see more vibrant colors and patterns reintroduced to spaces. A quick 180 from the gray hues that have donned our homes in recent years, these timeless pops of color are sure to coat our walls with excitement and happiness for the foreseeable future.
This year’s trending paint colors for walls are vibrant, blush tones that will surely make a statement in your home. Benjamin Moore’s color of the 2023, Raspberry Blush, was appropriately described as being a “saturated punch” of rosy goodness, making it the perfect pop of color for any room.
If you prefer to play it a little more safe, Sherwin Williams’ Redend Point is like Raspberry Blush’s mature older sister. With its warm blush tones and tranquil vibe, Redend Point will help add a splash of color to your space while still keeping things grounded.
When choosing a cabinet color to match your freshly painted walls, here are some things to keep in mind. If you are going for a bold wall color, choose more of a neutral with the cabinet color. We offer plenty of white and gray cabinet colors that can lean towards the warmer or cooler side depending on what would look best with the color of your walls. If you decide to keep your walls neutral, consider going with a bolder cabinet.
We love the color Mythic Blue from one of our favorite cabinet manufacturers, Ideal Cabinets. Mythic Blue is the perfect deep blue that is equally tasteful and fun.
Another trend on the horizon is a sort of reimagined maximalism when it comes to fabrics, cabinet colors, and tiles. Lovingly referred to as “granny-chic,” this grand millennial movement has been made particularly popular by social media influencers who have reclaimed their grandparent’s colorful, quirky furnishings and turned them into eclectic, vintage masterpieces.
This look can easily be achieved by utilizing vibrant, nostalgic color palettes and non-traditional cabinet finishes such as linoleum. The clean lines of linoleum cabinets are the perfect way to add a unique touch to your kitchen or bathroom without breaking the bank.
Although it may seem intimidating, you really don’t need a crystal ball to see into the future of design trends. All you need is a team like Michael’s to guide you through the selection process and help you turn your house into a home.
Interior designer and loyal client of Michael’s Flooring, Everett King of Everett King Consulting put it best when she said…
